New Sensory Room for Community Special School

In November 2017, Railscape donated £15,000.00 to Glenwood, the Community Special School based in Rushbottom Lane, Benfleet, Essex. The donation funded equipment for a new sensory room.

The equipment in the sensory room provides an environment in which young people focus on particular senses such as touch, vision, sound, smell; as well as the more abstract senses of well-being, space, time and togetherness. This can happen in many ways: through sound and visual effects, tactile experiences, vibration, use of aromas and music.

The result is a space in which the young people can completely relax, or interact with and control all the elements. It gives them control, possibly for the first time in their lives. It enables the young people with any degree of disability to change and influence their environment in an independent and positive way.

Michael Hayes, Manager Director of Railscape is delighted to be able to help and support the local community and is very pleased with the Sensory room.
